The Yellow Ribbon Program
Arcadia is a participating Yellow Ribbon institution. The Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program is a provision of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008. This program allows post-secondary institutions in the United States to voluntarily enter into an agreement with the V.A. (Veteran's Administration) to fund tuition and fee expenses that exceed the VA's set reimbursement rate. The institution can contribute up to 50% of those expenses and VA will match the same amount as the institution. For the 2012-13 academic year (8/1/2012-7/31/2013), for private schools, the V.A. will reimburse up to $18,077.50/year for tuition and fees at Pennsylvania schools. For the 2013-14 academic year (8/1/2013-7/31/2014), for private schools, the V.A. will reimburse up to $19,198.31. Once the $19,198.31 is deducted from NET tuition and fees (net tuition and fees figure reported to the VA is the amount due for tuition and fees after institutional merit aid already awarded has been deducted), Arcadia and the V.A. will split the remaining balance (each contributing 50% of the remaining amount as a match). Click here for additional information on the program. (Note: Students previously enrolled at Arcadia who qualified in the past for the per credit reiumbursement rate *may* be grandfathered under the old policy (V.A. paid up to highest in-state PA per credit rate, for each credit). Check with your V.A. officer).
The Yellow Ribbon Program is available to undergraduate (full-time and part-time) students. Additionally, graduate students in the following programs can participate:
- Master’s programs in: Counseling Psychology, English, Education, Forensic Science, Genetic Counseling, Health Education, Humanities, International Peace and Conflict Resolution, M.B.A., Physician Assistant, Public Health, MFA in Creative Writing, International Relations and Diplomacy, International Public Relations, International Film Marketing
- Doctoral programs in Education and Physical Therapy
Please remember that you must be eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill at the 100% rate to be considered for the Yellow Ribbon Program. You must also notify the Office of Financial Aid at the time you apply for financial aid by notating on the Arcadia University Financial Aid Application that you qualify for Yellow Ribbon Program benefits. Failure to notify the Financial Aid Office before you are awarded other financial aid could impede your eligibility for Yellow Ribbon benefits. If you receive any merit scholarship, grant or Graduate Assistantship, the monetary value of these awards will be null and void if you qualify for Yellow Ribbon benefits since these typically apply toward tuition costs only.
