Campus Safety and Security
Campus safety and security is a priority at Arcadia University. In an effort to maintain a safe environment for the University community, we employ a trained public safety staff. Public Safety Officers patrol the campus 24 hours a day and operate an around-the-clock communications system. An escort service is available for on-campus facilities. Student desk receptionists monitor the residence hall lobby entrances during the evening hours.
Public Safety Communications
Important communications for students, staff and faculty can range from weather emergencies to public safety alerts to emergency notifications. Text message capability (Emergency Notification System) is just one means of important campus communications, and it is designed to be used only in the event of life-threatening emergency. Students, faculty and staff also should be aware of important Public Safety Alerts that may be posted on campus and know where to find information about weather emergencies.
Public Safety Alerts
For situations that require awareness across campus but are not known as immediate threats to life safety, Arcadia utilizes communication via the Web, e-mail and signs posted on campus. Individuals must take responsibility to read these alerts when they communicated.
Weather Emergencies
Communication about weather-related cancellations, closings or delays is sent through the following means:
- MyArcadia
- The Arcadia University main web page www.arcadia.edu
- Media Outlets—using the University Numbers—Day Classes # 338 and Evening # 2338
- KYW
- Campus voicemail system
Emergency Notification System
Arcadia’s Emergency Notification System provides users who have signed up for the service with text or e-mail notices in the event of a life-threatening emergency. This emergency notification will be used only in the event of a life-threatening emergency. It will be tested occasionally. It does NOT replace any of the other forms of communication that Arcadia currently uses. This system is for students, staff, faculty and contractors of Arcadia University. These participants can sign up through MyArcadia and provide mobile number(s) and e-mails where they want to receive emergency notifications. All Arcadia e-mail addresses are automatically included in the system with no registration needed.
