Over 100 Programs Around the World
With over 100 programs in 23 countries, The College of Global Studies at Arcadia University serves not only students on its home campus, but more than 4,000 students a year from 350 North American colleges and universities. Because the University’s mission advances the belief that international learning is an essential component of an effective undergraduate education, Arcadia is committed to providing high-quality, academically sound and experientially rich study abroad programs and support services to a wide range of students and institutions.
A Global Commitment to Arcadia Students
Arcadia's national prestige in international education starts in the classroom on the home campus in Glenside, Pennsylvania, and extends around the world. More than 87 percent of Arcadia University students use their passports in their first year at Arcadia.
National Recognition for Remarkable Internationalization
Arcadia University has received national recognition for its internationalization efforts. As a recipient of the prestigious Senator Paul Simon Award for Campus Internationalization, Arcadia received honors for creating an integrative learning environment infused with international and multicultural experiences.
Arcadia also earned acclaim from U.S. News & World Report as one of the top 20 Programs to Look For in the Study Abroad category.
Arcadia University ranks #1 in the nation for the percentage of undergraduate students studying abroad in the 2008 Open Doors report, the authoritative annual census conducted by the Institute of International Education (www.iie.org). Arcadia has the highest percentage of undergraduate study abroad participation among all U.S. colleges and universities for the academic year 2006-07. In addition, Arcadia is one of the founding members of the American Council on Education’s (ACE) Internationalization Collaborative, and was among a select group of institutions selected to be part of ACE’s Internationalization Laboratory.
A Leader in Bringing the World to the Classroom
Arcadia was also chosen to take part in a national initiative of the Association of American Colleges and Universities, Shared Futures. The "Global Connections" emphasis of Arcadia’s innovative, new, general-education curriculum is one result of the university’s participation in this program.
A Pioneer in Study Abroad Programs
In 2001, the American Council on Education recognized Arcadia's College of Global Studies (formerly The Center for Education Abroad) and the London Preview experience as examples of programs representing best practices in education abroad. Newer efforts considered innovative and unique are the First Year Study Abroad Experience (FYSAE) and the Majors Abroad Program (MAP).
Arcadia's commitment to preparing students to live and work in a rapidly changing global society sets the university apart as a distinctive world leader in internationalization.
