- A program that caters to students interested in exploring rich architecture and tradition.
- Earn credit at a renowned international institute and immerse yourself in Italian culture in just 5 weeks!
- Classes include fieldtrips to sites of archaeological, artistic, historical and environmental interest across Sicily.
Program
The Mediterranean Center for Arts & Sciences (MCAS) offers a wide range of
liberal arts courses which, combined with academic fieldtrips (included in the program fee and an integral part of the program in Sicily) enable students to explore the diversity of the Mediterranean World from a unique perspective and experience the richly varied culture of this fascinating island.
You do not need to speak Italian to attend this program; all classes are offered in English. In the summer sessions all Arcadia students are required to take seven or eight credits, selected from any classes on offer, and either the one-credit, fifteen-hour language class or (if the student has elected to take a three-credit or six-credit Italian Language class) the one-credit, fifteen-hour culture class.
Programs of Study at the Mediterranean Center include individual academic fieldtrips (see class descriptions for details), but regardless of academic choices and course selections, all students are exposed to the culture of Sicily through two inclusive historical orientation tours of Syracuse and Catania and a guided weekend excursion to the hilltop city of Taormina.
