Please contact your program manager at Arcadia if you have any questions about housing.

  • Royal Holloway guarantees that all students will have accommodation in one of the campus halls of residence.

  • Students will be placed in on-campus housing and you can choose catered or self-catered accommodation.

  • Students will also be issued with a card which enables them to purchase meals in any of the College Dining Halls. There are several dining halls, cafeterias, and eateries located around the campus.

  • Royal Holloway provides modern accommodation of a high standard, all of which is located only a short walk from all classes.

  • Internet access is available in the individual rooms. Students may need to pay an activation fee directly to the university in order to use this service.

  • There are 24-hour computer terminals on campus where students can hook up their laptops as well.

Arcadia students can choose between the following housing options:

Gowar and Wedderburn Halls

  • Built in 2004
  • Environmentally friendly design; surrounded by forest
  • Laid out in flats of eight students
  • Each student has a single room with an ensuite shower room and toilet
  • Communal kitchen and dining space for each flat
  • Elevators provide easy access to all floors

Runnymede Halls

  • Located near College gym and sports fields
  • Recently renovated to a high standard
  • Laid out in flats of six to eight single rooms
  • Each student has a single room with an ensuite shower room and toilet
  • Communal kitchen and dining space for each flat

Reid Hall

  • Located near most of the academic departments on the south side of campus
  • Rooms are grouped into houses with 12 rooms each
  • Each student has a single room with an ensuite shower room and toilet
  • Catered hall – Residents of catered halls are entitled to a discount of approximately 50% off the cost of most food items purchased in all three dining halls (Please note that the cost of food is not included in the published room fee)
  • All houses have a small kitchen for the preparation of small meals

Founder’s Hall

  • Located in the center of campus, Founder’s Hall is a beautiful Victorian building that houses student accommodation and college offices
  • Laid out in traditional residence hall format
  • Rooms have lots of historic character
  • Rooms are either single or twin
  • Toilet, bath, and shower facilities are shared
  • Catered hall – Residents of catered halls are entitled to a discount of approximately 50% off the cost of most food items purchased in all three dining halls (Please note that the cost of food is not included in the published room fee)
  • Small kitchens for the preparation of meals are available

Linens and Laundry

  • Each student will be provided with a mattress protector, a duvet and pillows.

  • Students should bring their own sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases. Students must also provide their own towels, washcloths, etc.

  • Laundry facilities are provided in or near all halls of residence.

Housing Between Terms

  • Housing is included for the entire program, including any breaks or holidays that fall between the starting and ending dates.

  • Only full year students are eligible for housing over the Christmas holiday.

  • Each student will be responsible for making arrangements with the accommodations officer and for paying the appropriate fees, if necessary. If fees are required, students should submit receipts to Arcadia's London Center for reimbursement.

  • Students may be asked to change rooms over long breaks.

  • If students do not wish to remain in residence over the term breaks, they may be asked to store their belongings. Storage areas will be made available.
