Arcadia University’s priority is to accommodate you in a place that will support your studies and enable you to experience the local culture. Whenever possible, Arcadia strives to accommodate you with local students. The University of Sydney offers several residential college possibilities.
Accommodation in residential colleges at the University of Sydney is very competitive. A limited number of spaces are available for Arcadia students at Sancta Sophia and Mandelbaum House. While we work to honor your housing preferences, specific assignments cannot be guaranteed. All students residing in a residential college will incur an additional fee for accommodation services and/or meals. Fee estimates are available at www.arcadia.edu/abroad/fees.
Sancta Sophia College
Sancta Sophia College is located within the grounds of the University of Sydney. It was originally founded as a residential college for Catholic women but it now provides houses up to 150 students including undergraduate women and graduate men from a broad range of religious, social and ethnic backgrounds. Academic excellence is prized at Sancta Sophia but they also encourage students to explore and participate in a variety of outside interests and extra-curricular activities, for example, sport, music, choir, drama, film and debating. All students living at Sancta Sophia College will be assigned a shared room and a mandatory full meal plan.
This residence is the newest of the University of Sydney’s residential colleges. Located within close proximity to many of the university’s academic buildings, Mandelbaum House offers a unique facility on campus with bright modern décor and stylish features. Mandelbaum House is a small, intimate college, which accommodates 32 students in single rooms. Founded on principles central to the Jewish faith, students from all religious, social and ethnic backgrounds are welcome to apply for accommodation. A full meal plan is assigned to each resident of Mandelbaum House.
Sydney University Village (SUV)
Located adjacent to campus in a friendly, secure community setting, SUV provides accommodation for 650 residents. Students are housed in either single bedroom studio apartments or five bedroom shared apartments. Residents in the shared apartments have an internal kitchen and the studio residents have access to a shared kitchen facility, so all residents can prepare their own meals if they wish.
These are fully furnished, self contained apartments/homes usually with 2-4 bedrooms. They are located in close proximity to the University of Sydney. Students will share the apartment with other international students and be responsible for their own cooking, cleaning and laundry.
