University of Auckland Housing Information
Return to New Zealand Housing Information
Students will be housed in
apartment-style accommodations while at the University of Auckland. Because
most full-time students live at home or in independent accommodation, students
will live primarily with other international and study abroad students, though
Auckland does try to place students with a Kiwi (local student) host where
possible.
Auckland is a very navigable city. Study
abroad students are expected to commute between their housing, the university,
and other parts of the city as do their local peers: by foot, or by making use
of the city’s bus network.
Student Apartments
Parnell Student Village:
Parnell Student Village consists of a series
of apartments with, primarily, four or five bedrooms each. Each apartment is
fully furnished and includes an equipped kitchen. Bedrooms are single
occupancy; students share apartment common areas including living room, kitchen
and bath, with other students. Sheets, pillows and blankets are provided.
Broadband internet access is available in the rooms and included in the housing
cost. The flats are a 20-minute walk from campus and downtown Auckland, and
there is a bus service that offers cheaper student fares for use at night or
during inclement weather. The apartments are a close walk to the neighborhood
of Parnell and one of the largest parks in Auckland.
Unilodge:
Students studying at Auckland with Arcadia who
are housed in Unilodge will have their own bedroom and share a living room,
kitchen and bath with other students (studio apartments are not available). Each
apartment is fully furnished and includes an equipped kitchen. Sheets, pillows
and blankets are provided. Broadband internet access is available in the rooms
and included in the housing cost. Unilodge is a 5 to 10-minute walk from campus.
