Housing Information

Return to Scotland Housing Information Page

The College of Global Studies at Arcadia University, in conjunction with the University of Glasgow, guarantees you accommodation in one of the halls of residence. Glasgow's accommodation office makes the housing assignments and cannot guarantee that your preferences will be honored. University regulations require that you contract to remain in your assigned housing for the full duration of your program.

Housing Options

Catered Halls

Wolfson Hall offers single and double rooms which are centrally heated. Breakfast and dinner are provided Monday through Friday. Brunch and dinner are served on weekends. Students have access to a common room, snack kitchens and laundry room. More information about Wolfson Hall can be found at: Wolfson Accommodation

Wolfson is located approximately three miles from the central campus and students should expect to take a half-hour bus ride or a 40-minute walk to and from campus. Buses do not run late in the evening. Past participants often recommend self-catered housing versus catered housing due to this distance from campus and restricted meal hours and food selection.

Meal Plan Surcharge

If your housing assignment requires a meal plan, the appropriate fee will be charged to your account after your program begins. Please see Arcadia’s fee page for detailed information about this surcharge.

Self-catered Halls

In self-catered halls, students prepare their own meals in communal kitchens and are offered either a single or double room in either traditional residence halls or in shared flats. Students must supply their own cookware and cutlery, which can be purchased inexpensively in Glasgow upon arrival.

Meals can also be purchased at the University refectories on a pay-as-you-go basis. Students have access to TV rooms, libraries, and game and laundry rooms. Please note that the University facilities and housing are spread throughout Glasgow.

You are likely to be living in housing that is on average a 20-minute walk or short bus ride from your classes; students placed in Victoria Hall, a brand-new residence located in the Glasgow city center approximately 40 minutes’ walk from campus, will receive a pass to aid in their travel to and from the University via public transportation.

Student Apartments (available to full academic year students only) are the closest to central campus buildings and near a grocery store and other shopping.

Self-catered halls include:

  • Cairncross House (single)
  • Cairncross House (double)
  • Kelvinhaugh Street
  • Queen Margaret Residences
  • Victoria Hall
  • Winton Drive
  • Student Apartments (single) (AY students only)
  • Student Apartments (double) (AY students only)

Linens and Laundry

The University of Glasgow provides the following items for all students:

  • sheets
  • duvet (comforter)
  • a pillow and pillowcase
You must supply your own towels. Launderettes are available for student use, some requiring coins and some are free.

Housing Between Terms

If you would like to remain in residence during part or all of a long break (winter break or spring break), the cost will be covered by Arcadia University. Only full year students are eligible for housing over winter holiday. You will be responsible for making your own arrangements with the accommodations officer and for paying the appropriate fees. You may then submit your receipt to our Edinburgh office for reimbursement. You may be asked to change rooms. If you do not wish to remain in residence over break, you may be asked to store your belongings. Storage areas will be available to you.
