Cultural Enrichment & Orientation in Germany
Events and excursions designed to enhance your understanding of German culture will take place throughout the program.All Arcadia excursions attach great importance to the notions of safety, experiential learning and cultural understanding.
Students taking part in the summer program in Bonn are automatically enrolled in a class on German language and culture to afford them with a better understanding of their host country and its background. In order to further integrate students into the Bonn University community, students from Bonn will act as "Buddies" to the program participants.
The coursework will be complemented by field trips to museums such as:
- Federal Museum of German Post-War-History (Haus der Geschichte)
- Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany (Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle der Bundesrepublik Deutschland) or Art Museum Bonn
- Beethoven House (Beethoven's birthplace)
- Castle Brühl
- Cities of Aachen and Cologne
While in Bonn, participants will be enrolled as Bonn University students, benefiting from all University facilities and amenities. Students will receive a regular Bonn student id which will also function as their public transportation pass for not only Bonn but the whole state of North Rhine Westphalia.
The final week of the program, which takes place in Berlin, will afford students an opportunity to discover the country and to discuss the material under study.
