Student Travel Information Wales

Understanding Your Options

Arcadia University attempts to make your travel overseas as easy and affordable as possible. All students are responsible for arranging and purchasing their own flight.

Additionally, all students are required to in be attendance for the beginning of their Arcadia orientation, which coincides with the posted program arrival date.

In order to connect you with Arcadia in-country staff on the program arrival date, you will need to be aware of the arrival instructions below.  If you have any questions about booking your overseas travel, please contact Arcadia’s Logistics Manager, Rich Conroy, at  conroyr@arcadia.edu.

Individual Travel: Arcadia in-country staff will be on hand at designated times on the program arrival date to assist students arriving independently.

Meeting Up with Staff: Please refer to the “What to Expect When I Arrive" section for the time and location of the Arcadia staff airport pick-up.

Joining Up with the Group: When available, students arriving just prior to the group flight arrival time are welcome to join the Arcadia staff airport pick-up.

Arriving Prior to Scheduled Arrival Date/ Arriving Late: Students arriving on an earlier date or later than the designated staff pick-up times on the scheduled arrival day will be responsible for their own transportation to the orientation venue or program.

Please Note: Do not book a flight which connects through the Republic of Ireland. You will not be able to obtain proper immigration clearances if you travel to the United Kingdom through the Republic of Ireland. Failure to secure the proper passport stamp may affect your ability to remain in country for the duration of your time abroad.

Fall Programs Arriving Flight Details

No group flights are arranged for students studying in Wales, however, Arcadia recommends that you consider booking your flight through our travel provider, Student Universe (click the Student Universe link below.)

When booking your flight, please keep the following in mind:

  1. Book a flight that arrives in London prior to or no later than 12:00pm/noon (local UK time) on the scheduled arrival date* for your program. For most trans-Atlantic flights, this means that you will need to depart the US the evening before.
*Attendance is mandatory at your Arcadia orientation in London.

  1. Students who arrive at London-Heathrow airport by 12:00pm (noon) on the scheduled arrival date of their program will be eligible for group transportation from the airport to their orientation accommodation. Transportation will depart at various times throughout the morning. Students must supply a copy of their flight itinerary to Rich Conroy (conroyr@arcadia.edu) prior to their departure in order to qualify for this group transportation.

  2. Do not book a flight which connects through the Republic of Ireland. Passengers who travel to the United Kingdom through the Republic of Ireland do not receive the proper immigration clearance.

  3. If you are a single-semester student, make sure that you do not arrive in the UK more than one week prior to your program start date. Immigration officers will not issue Student Visitor Visas outside of this one-week window.

  4. Please review all of the rules and regulations that apply to your ticket prior to purchase.

Please Note:

  1. If you choose to arrive early, all transportation and accommodation arrangements will be your responsibility until the scheduled arrival date for your program.

  2. In the event that your flight is delayed, if you do not arrive at London-Heathrow airport on your scheduled arrival date, or if you miss the group transportation for any reason, you will need to proceed to your orientation accommodation independently. Our staff will provide you with detailed arrival instructions for this purpose.

  3. Remember to send a confirmed copy of your flight itinerary to Rich Conroy conroyr@arcadia.edu
