  • Resume & Internship Statement TipsThe University of Edinburgh's Scottish Summer Parliamentary Program offers students a unique opportunity to help make history by working with members of the Scottish Parliament, who are sitting to enact their own laws for the first time since 1707.

  • This programs offers an unparalleled practical and academic experience for students of government, law, politics, history, economics or sociology.

  • A semester program is also available.


This program enables you to immerse yourself in the culture, history and politics of Scotland through an engaging academic course and the opportunity to complete significant research under the direction of a member of the Scottish Parliament.

While the program is intensive, there will be time for a life beyond work but with an added plus. You will achieve a level of integration with your host country that is available to only a few while gaining valuable working experience.


You will earn the following hours of credit.

  • Summer program: 8 credits.

Admission Requirements

GPA Requirements: 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale.

Previous university-level coursework in political science and/or related fields is required.

You must be in good academic standing and not on disciplinary probation. You need to submit a complete application including a transcript, letter of recommendation and an advisor's form before your application will be considered.
