About the University of Westminster
A combination of expert faculty and dynamic research initiatives has distinguished the University of Westminster as a leader in research for legal studies, Asian studies, linguistics, communications, and cultural and media studies.
A typical course load includes four, four-credit courses per semester. If you plan to take communications or creative industries practical courses, you must submit a slide or color photocopy portfolio to be considered for admission.
Assessment at the University depends on the individual course, but you can usually expect a combination of assignments and an exam. Some courses will require group work and presentations.
The University operates four campuses: three in central London and one in Harrow located in northwest suburban London. While you may register for courses on different campuses, please be aware that travel and scheduling concerns may inhibit your ability to attend two campuses on the same day. This is an institution which has a strong commuter feel and where independence and a focus on your own goals and agendas are valued.
As a student at Westminster you will be a member of the University's Students' Union the best place to get to know other students and experience British university life outside the classroom. The Students’ Union serves as host to a wide variety of clubs and societies, which you are encouraged to join. You'll also be regularly included in a variety of events planned especially for visiting students by Westminster's Study Abroad Office.
The University’s sports facilities include a gymnasium and fitness rooms, as well as an outdoor sports ground on the River Thames at Chiswick. The sports ground houses a boathouse, 15 playing fields, 18 tennis courts, track and field facilities, and a clubhouse with a bar and restaurant. In addition to a vibrant and challenging academic environment, you'll study against the exciting backdrop of London and all of its historical and cultural attractions. The University's facilities in central and suburban northwest London will put you within easy reach of the renowned libraries, museums, galleries and arts venues of the city.
