Study Abroad at Australia The University of New South Wales with Arcadia University

About the University of New South Wales

Location, size and academic rigor are just a few of the characteristics of the University of New South Wales (UNSW) that attract study abroad students. With more than 30,000 students you'll find a buzz pervades the compact campus. Bands performing on the campus lawn, theater and dance performances during the day and in the evenings, and more than fifteen cafes and food stands scattered throughout the campus serving everything from Thai noodles to gelato make UNSW a lively campus community.

As long as you have the proper prerequisites, all of the thousands of undergraduate courses on offer at UNSW will be available to you. Outside of a few courses in engineering and sciences you can expect to receive four semester hours of credit for each course and earn 16 credits. One of the most popular options at UNSW is to take courses in the natural sciences or engineering along with a couple of Australia-related courses in history, media studies, or political science. There's even a Centre for Olympic Studies and a strong emphasis on popular culture in the School of History. A School of Art, located about five miles away in Paddington is also an option to study abroad students.

The Randwick campus of UNSW is located about ten miles from the center of Sydney. Frequent buses can bring you quickly into the center of the city, or to ocean side communities like Coogee or Bondi Beach. This makes UNSW an ideal location whether you are interested in walking along miles of coastline, or experiencing the theater and museums of Sydney. Of course, with hundreds of clubs and societies and first-rate recreational facilities on-campus, you'll find yourself spending a lot more time on-campus than you may think.

Supplementing the activities of the Student Union are activities sponsored by the Study Abroad Office at UNSW. All of these activities are designed to introduce you to various aspects of Australian culture and offer an opportunity to meet other study abroad students at UNSW.
