Study Abroad in Brisbane, Australia
Australia's third largest city is a blend of modern buildings and classic Queenslander architecture set in a subtropical climate. With almost two million residents, you'll find a vibrant, multi-cultural lifestyle where there are plenty of events to keep you entertained whether your interests are in experiencing the outdoors or theater and music.
With a vibrant central business district, beautiful neighborhoods with their own distinct character, and an active arts district along the Southbank, you'll have plenty of places to explore. A network of ferries which travel along the Brisbane River offer a great way to explore the city.
If sports are your thing, spending an afternoon at the Gabba (the local name of the Brisbane Cricket Ground) is a great way to experience cricket or Australian Rules Football. Of course, you'll have to be ready to debate the merits of Australian Rules Football over Rugby League, so be prepared to visit Suncorp Stadium where the Brisbane Broncos play as well.
You won't quickly run out of things to do in Brisbane, but if you are looking to escape to the ocean, Moreton Bay to the east, the Gold Coast to the south, and the Sunshine Coast to the north are all easy day trips. The Brisbane International Airport offers regular and inexpensive flights throughout the rest of Australia, Asia and the Pacific. In under two hours you can be in Sydney, or off the Great Barrier Reef.
