About Trinity College, Dublin
Established in 1592, Trinity College offers world-class academics on a beautiful 40-acre campus right in the middle of Dublin. Though in the middle of a bustling city, the campus remains peaceful and serene with its cobbled-stone squares, lush gardens and parks.
Trinity offers a wide range of course offerings in the humanities and social sciences, business and economics, science and engineering, and health sciences. As Ireland's oldest university, the College is an icon of Dublin's history. Visitors from around the world marvel at the campus' rich mix of architecture (which spans nearly three centuries) and its massive library, which is home to the world-famous Book of Kells, a richly ornate manuscript of the Gospels composed during the 9th century.
Trinity College offers semester or full year programs. You will be accepted to study within a single teaching department such as English or Art History, or within an interdisciplinary faculty such as Business, Economics and Social Science (which includes economics, sociology, political science, social studies, and business studies). Please note that you can only select courses in the department(s) into which you are accepted. Students accepted into interdisciplinary faculties normally enroll in courses encompassing only two or three subject areas.
Under special circumstances, it may be possible to take some courses in other departments or faculties. Because places are limited in English and history, you must have completed extensive, upper-level courses in these areas to be considered for admission.
Outside of the classroom, you'll find many opportunities to become immersed in campus life. You'll be invited to join any of more than 90 student societies that cater to a wide range of interests including sports and recreation, arts, politics, religion and culture. What's more, you'll be able to take advantage of the variety of concerts, recitals and art exhibitions hosted by Trinity.
Finally, you'll appreciate that Trinity's range of athletic facilities and sports programs accommodate all levels of skill-whether you have a passion for serious competition or want to enjoy noncompetitive fun and recreation.
