Life of the Mind Series
2012 Origins: People, Place & Identity
Back to the Life of the Mind Series Main Page
Dedicating the year to the study of human movement, including immigration, voluntary and forced migration, displacement, diaspora and asylum seeking. We will explore the significant impact that the movement of people has had and continues to have on culture, identity, xenophobia, political discourse, community development, health, resource allocation and environmental eco-systems. We will examine global movement though education and employment; the economic benefit and potentially destructive nature of tourism; and the uniqueness of closed, isolated communities.
