Study Abroad for Arcadia Students
If you are thinking about study abroad, you have made a great choice in attending Arcadia University. For over 60 years, Arcadia has provided accredited overseas experiences for 30,000 students from nearly 400 North American universities. There are more than 100 programs to choose from in Australia, China, England, France, Greece, India, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Scotland, South Africa, Spain and Wales. In addition, the University offers an exchange program in Korea. Some students choose to study in alternative countries and this is possible also with prior approval. Program options include internships, field research and student teaching as well as traditional study programs.
A variety of short-term ID181/381 courses are offered each year and provide an opportunity to study a country, culture or subject in some depth. Courses are taught as a combination of on-campus and overseas components. Please check course schedules each semester for further information.
The first step in finding out more is to contact the Office of International Affairs in Easton 244. Their staff will discuss opportunities and financial aid, provide additional sources of information, and put students in touch with previous participants. Like everything else that is worth doing, study abroad planning takes time. The process works best when it is planned six to twelve months in advance of the semester, year or short-term experience.
Eligibility for study abroad includes:
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 in most programs. In some cases, a lower GPA will be considered by the overseas program. In other cases, a higher GPA will be needed.
- A student must be in good academic and disciplinary standing at the time of application and departure. Students with a record of serious violations of the University’s Code of Conduct may be considered ineligible for study abroad.
- Satisfactory academic references and endorsement by the Associate Dean or Assistant Director for International Affairs.
- Mandatory attendance at a pre-departure orientation in Glenside.
- At least one semester’s enrollment on the Glenside campus immediately prior to the overseas experience.
