Special Honors sections of freshman English 101 and 102.
HN201 Honors Reading
This course is team-taught by two faculty members from different departments. Students read and discuss selected texts that provide a breadth of experience not generally encountered in discipline based courses. Readings are selected to represent as much variety as possible among disciplines, genres, periods, and cultures. Recently, topics have included "Science Fiction" and "Bioeconomics."
HN202 Honors Project
Students pursue independent projects outside their major area of study to develop and explore their own talents and interests. The Honors Program co-advisors and faculty mentors guide the organization and research. Click here to see topics that have been pursued by students in the past.
HN390 Honors Colloquia
The Honors Colloquia focus on interdisciplinary topics. Topics vary and have included such topics as "McCarthyism," "The Avante Garde," "Humanistic Botany," "Psychopathology and Art," "Ancient Greece," "Great Trials in History," "Media and Adolescents," Shakespeare on Film," "Museums:Culture and Controversies," and "Culture, Politics and Identity in the 21st Century."
* Students also have the option of adapting one course for Honors credit.
