How to Obtain a DEA Number in Pennsylvania
A Physician Assistant who is supervised by an MD registered with the State Board of Medicine may prescribe medications from schedules III, IV, and V. However, to do so, the PA must have a Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) number.
To Obtain a Number:
- Contact the Philadelphia office of the DEA. This is the only Pennsylvania office that processes applications from PAs.
- The PA must request an application with a mid-level practitioner addendum form. A mid-level prescribing manual is also available.
- This application must be completed by both the PA and the supervising physician.
- Cost for the number is $210 and the number is good for 3 years.
