Careers in English
The English program is designed to develop skills essential in the professional world: critical thinking, precise writing and effective oral communication. It also provides every student with practical experience through its required Career Internship—an exellent opportunity for students to gain work experience in the professional world. Many internships lead to jobs after graduation.
There's a wide range of career possibilities for English Majors. Given Arcadia's emphasis on critical thinking, clear writing and strong oral communication skills, our English majors are especially well-prepared to enter law school. Arcadia also offers a Pre-Law Minor.
English majors can take courses in Education, which will prepare them for Secondary Education Teaching Certification in Pennsylvania.
We offer several introductory to advanced creative writing courses focused on fiction, poetry, play and screenwriting and other topics. Many of our graduates have gone on to publish their work.
Arcadia's Professional Writing Program offers many specialized courses in Business Writing, Journalism, Technical Writing, Medical Writing and other topics.
