About this Institute/Course

  • Delve into interactive media—CD ROMS, Intranet and Internet.
  • Understand how visual and written approaches work together in new media.
  • Create feature, persuasive and hypertext writing.

In the rapidly changing world of business and industry, writing for new media (Web, Podcasts and CD ROMS) has become a central skill for entering the job market and progressing in writing careers. Writing for The Web and New Media will address the stylistic and formatting concerns of writing for hypertext and visual media, with special attention given to stylistic concerns of audience, interactivity, and document topography. Students will analyze, construct and write multimedia text in various assignments, creating a portfolio of finished work.

This course can count toward the Graduate Certificate in Professional Writing or the Master's of Arts degree in English.

  • Deadline for registration is Friday, May 29, 2009.
  • Tuition for the Professional Writing Institute includes a dinner Friday evening, a continental breakfast and lunch on Satuday and Sunday.
