Coach Ayers3Derrick Ayers enters his third season as the head coach for the Men’s Soccer program at Arcadia University.  In his first season at the helm the Knights went undefeated in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference, winning the Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships, and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Prior to his arrival at Arcadia, Ayers spent three years as the Assistant Men’s Coach at Washington & Jefferson College, in Washington PA. During his time at W&J the President’s enjoyed their most successful period in the history of the program, winning President’s Athletic Conference (PAC) Regular Season Championships in 2003 and 2005, and winning the PAC Conference Tournament Championship in 2003 and 2004.  In 2005 the Presidents receive their first ever bid to the NCAA tournament. During this three year span the team broke nearly every school record and set a new school record for wins in a season each year.

Ayers spent the 2000 season at MacMurry College in Jacksonville, IL as the Assistant Men’s coach where the team finished 13-6-1. He also has experience coaching at the youth level with the Baltimore Bays Soccer Club, North Stars Soccer Club in Pittsburgh, as well as with Maryland and PA West ODP programs.  Ayers spent six summers working for former US Women’s National Team Coach Tony DiCicco at SoccerPlus Camps. He currently coaches a boy’s team for FC Bucks.

As a player Ayers spent four years at Coker College (NCAA DII) in Hartsville, SC. He also spent one year in Wales as a student where he played for Carmarthen Towne AFC and Trinity College FC. He has BA in History and Political Science from Illinois College in Jacksonville, IL.

During his time as a coach Ayers has worked with 12 NSCAA All Region players at the college level, and many youth players that have gone on to be successful at all levels of college. He currently holds a USSF B License and an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma.
