2009 Arcadia University Men's Golf Season Outlook
The 2009 Arcadia Men’s Golf team is both very young, and quite experienced this year. With just one senior, one junior, and four sophomores, it could look like a rebuilding year, but Coach Rick Brownell is looking to be well-represented in the conference championship this season.

The lone senior, Matt Benner, is returning for his second season on the team.  Steve Sharp, a junior, is also returning to the team looking to compete.  The returning sophomores include Jeremie Sumpman, Russel Schneider, Jeff Whyte-Capone, and Kevin Gallagher.  Whyte-Capone and Schneider earned all-academic honors last season.  Gallagher earned 2nd team all-conference last season as the team’s number one golfer.  He also returns as the team captain, providing young but strong leadership for the Knights.

The team has two newcomers this year, freshmen Brian Devlin and Anthony Procopio. Both will be looking to be competitive on the team and in conference play in 2009.

The Knights’ lose one key player from last year’s team: senior Andrew Plunkett, the team’s number two golfer in 2008. Coach Brownell admits that for 2009 he has a very young team, but he is excited for the upcoming season and will look to Gallagher and the other returning players to provide leadership and dedication in order be strong competiors in the conference championship this year.
