Knights Fall to Wesley In PAC Semi's

(2-21-06)--#2 seeded Wesley College defeated #3 seed Arcadia University 68-67 in semifinal action of the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Tournament. 

Wesley jumped out to the early 10-3 lead on 3 point basket by Greg Cooke '09 and pushed the lead to 16-5 with 12:30 remaining in the half.  The Knights began to climb their way back into the contest going on a 11-3 run to close the gap to 19-16 with just over 9 minutes remaining in the half.  The lead would change four times in the remaining minutes of the half before the Wolverines would go to the locker room with the 34-32 advantage.

The second half opened the same way as the first with the Wolverines going on a 9-2 run to push their lead to 43-36.  The Knights answered the run and took the lead 51-49 with 12:07 left to play.  Wesley would then go to work as they hit a tradional three point play added a 3 point basket to go into the lead 63-55.  Arcadia would try to rally one more time as they pulled to within three with 55 seconds remaining but the Wolverines would make enough free throws down the stretch to secure the win.

With the win, Wesley advance to their first ever PAC championship game where they will take on Alvernia College who was a 89-78 winner over Gwynedd Mercy.

Knights Move On To Semi's

(2-18-06)--The Knights shrugged off a slow start to pull away from Neumann College 67-60 in first round action of the PAC Championship tournament.

Neumann jumped out to an early 11-2 lead before the Knights slowly began chipping away laregely on the shoulders of Kevin Brown '08 and Sterling Green '08.  The two guards knocked down some jumpers as Arcadia closed to 21-17.  The Knights would get their first late in the half at 28-26 and take a 30-28 lead into the locker.

The second half saw neither team able to pull away.  The Knights largest lead was 10 early in the half and Neumann rallied for a five point lead with 5:00 minutes remaining.  Arcadia would respond to tie the score with 2:56 left in the half on a basket by Green.  The Knights would then pull away for the 67-60 win.

The Knights were led by Green who finished witha game high 15 points and Brown who chipped in with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists.

With the win, the Knights advance to the second round of the PAC Championship tournament Tuesday at Wesley College.  Game time is 7:00pm.

Men Win Regular Season Finale

(2-15-06)--The Arcadia University men's basketball team concluded their regular season tonight and honored seniors Derek Cornish and Stuart Slattery with a 76-64 victory over Gwynedd Mercy.  The Knights were paced by Eric Elliott '08 who finished with 17 points and back court running mate Kevin Brown '08 who tallied 13.

The Knights are back in action Saturday as they host Neumann in the first round of the PAC Championships.  Game time is 3:30pm.

Knights Win Streak Ends at Six

(2-13-06) - The Knights saw their six-game win streak come to an end as Wesley College topped Arcadia 50-48 in a PAC match-up.

The Knights used a strong defensive effort to take the early lead as neither team could find the mark from the floor in the first half. The Knights finished the half shooting 29% while Wesley could muster only 22% from the field. As a result, the Knights went into the locker room up 22-16.

The second half saw Wesley heat up, knocking down shots at a 46% clip while Arcadia's poor shooting continued. The Knights got most of their scoring from Eric Elliott '08 who finished with a team-high 14 points. The game saw a few lead changes late in the half as Greg Cooke drained a shot with the shot clock at zero to give Wesley the 49-48 lead with 22 seconds left. The Knights would get the ball back and work the possession. Elliott drove hard down the middle, but his shot rolled off the rim. After an Arcadia foul, Wesley converted one of two free throws to take a 50-48 lead with 3.5 seconds remaining. Arcadia had one last chance, but Sterling Green '08 was unable to get off a shot before time expired.

The Knights are home for Senior Day Wednesday as they host Gwynedd Mercy. Game time is 8:00pm. With the loss, the Knights will host a first round game Saturday here at the Kuch Center. Game time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

Knights Extend Win Streak to Six

(2-11-06) - The Arcadia University men's basketball team extended its winning streak to six—seven out of its last eight—with a 78-68 victory over Marywood University on Feb. 11.

The Knights came out strong and dictated play early, shooting a blistering 53% from the field as they took a 40-31 halftime lead. The second half saw the Pacers make a come back as they closed the Knights’ lead to 2 midway through the half. The Knights answered the run and pushed the lead back to 10 with 3 minutes remaining. The Knights made enough free throws down the stretch to keep the Pacers at bay and record the win.

The Knights improved their overall record to 14-9 and 12-4 in the PAC. Arcadia is back in action Monday when they host Wesley at 7:00 p.m. in a pivotal PAC matchup. With two games remaining, the Knights are vying for second place and a home playoff game.

Knights Drop Cabrini

(2-8-06) - In a game that saw numerous lead changes and momentum swings, Arcadia got the last surge as Eric Elliott ’08 dropped a runner in the lane with 6 seconds remaining to give the Knights a 60-59 win over visiting Cabrini.

The first half began with Knights coming out and knocking down shots as they built an early 15-5 lead. Cabrini answered with a 10-3 run to close the gap to 18-15 with 6:50 remaining. Cabrini took its first lead, 26-24, with 3:18 remaining. The Knights closed out the first half by scoring the final three points to take a 27-26 halftime lead.

The second half would see five more lead changes as neither team could build a lead larger then 6 points. With 1:37 seconds remaining, Cabrini got a field goal from Randy Reid '08 to give Cabrini the 59-58 lead. After Kevin Brown '08 missed a field goal attempt, Cabrini came down the court in search of the go-ahead basket. Reid got off a shot with 41 seconds but missed. After an Arcadia timeout, Elliott launched a three-point attempt that bounced long to a waiting Derek Cornish '06 for the offensive rebound with 21 seconds remaining. Elliott made the most of the second chance as he drove hard to left to middle and knocked down a floater in the lane to give the Knights a 60-59 victory. Cabrini get one more shot off, but it came up short. Arcadia was lead by Elliott's 16 points and Brown’s 10.

Knights Win Buzzer Beater

(2-6-06)--The Knights watched helplessly as Cody White '09 caught a long pass, drove hard left to the basket and put up a contested lay-up.  The shot rolled off the rim and the Knights came away with a 76-75 win over Wesley College.

The first half was a game of mini runs as the Knights jumped out to the early 11-2 lead.  Wesley would answer and the Knights would eventually take 38-35 lead into the locker room.

The second half brought numerous lead changes as both team were knocking down shots.  Wesley entered the last 30 seconds of play with a 75-74 lead.  After a missed shot by Wesley, Kevin Brown '08 secured a rebound with 9 seconds and was fouled with 3 seconds remaining.  Brown calmly stepped up to the free throw line and knocked down both ends of the one and one.  After an Arcadia timeout, Wesley launched the pass to White who made a great catch and drove hard to the hoop.  The shot would roll off the rim as time expired and the Knights escaped with a 76-75 win.

The Knights were led by Dave Boettcher '07 who finished with 24 points and Eric Elliott '08 who added 20 points.  With the win, the Knights improve their overall record to 12-9 and 10-4 in the PAC. 

Arcadia returns to action Wednesday when they host Cabrini in another PAC match-up.  Game time is 8:00pm.

Men's Basketball Outlasts Immaculata

(2-4-06)--The Arcadia Knights men's basketball team wins their third game in a row as they hang on to defeat Immaculata 67-65.  Kevin Brown '08 was outstanding on both ends of the floor, he had 13 points, 6 rebound, 5 assits.  Dave Boettcher '07 finished the game with 14 points and 6 rebounds. 

Arcadia will travel to Wesley College, Monday, February 6 at 8:00.

Men's Basketball Defeat PSU-Berks

(01/26/06) -- Stu Slattery '06 scored 12 points as the Knights defeated non-conference PSU-Berks 83-48. Bobby Mulholland '09 and Eric Elliott '08 added 11 points each. John Soloman '08 chipped in with a career high 5 points.

Arcadia will travel to Neumann on Saturday for a 3:00 game.

Knights Fall To Alvernia

(1-23-06)--The Arcadia Knights men's basketball team looked to make it two wins in a row but fell short against conference rival Alvernia College 69-54.  The Knights kept the game close early in the first half before the Crusaders surged to 14 point lead at the half.  The Knights never really threatened again as Alvernia cruised to a 69-54 PAC conference victory.  The Knights were paced by Dave Boettcher '07 and Kevin Brown '08 who eached tallied 10 points.

The Knights look to get back in the win column Thursday as they host Penn-State Berks in a non-conference match-up.  Game time is set for 8:00pm

Knights Dramatic Comeback Downs Marywood

(1-21-06)- The Knights used intense full court pressure as they overcame a 10 point deficit with three minutes left to down conference rival Marywood at the Kuch Center.  Down two with 35 seconds to play, the Knights held the ball late in the shot clock as Eric Elliott '08 drove and dished to a wide open Bobby Mulholland '09 who knocked down a three to give the Knights 67-64 lead with 7.4 seconds remaining.  After a Pacers turnover, the Knights added two free throws to ensure the 69-64 victory.

With the win, the Knights even their overall record at 7-7 and move to 6-2 in the PAC.  The Knight return to the Kuch Center Monday when the host conference foe Alvernia.  Game time is 8:00pm.

 

Knights Complete the Sweep of Eastern

Eric Elliott '08 had a game high 26 points as the Knights defeated conference opponent Eastern University 71-63. Kevin Brown '08 added 13 points and 3 assists. Andrew Martin '07 finished with 11 points.

The Knights trailed 33-27 at the half but finished with a strong second half outscoring Eastern 44 to 30.

Arcadia defeated Eastern 92-85 at Eastern on December 6th, 2005. They are 6-7 overall, 5-2 PAC.

Marywood University will visit the Kuch Center on Saturday, January 21st for a 3:00 tip-off.

Men's Basketball Drop Second Straight 

(01/14/06) -- Eugene Moore '08 was the only Knight who finished in double figures with 11 points as they were defeated by conference foe Alvernia College 76-50.

Arcadia will host Eastern on Monday, January 16th at 8:00 pm.

 

Men's Basketball Drop Road Conference Game

(01/11/06) -- For the second consecutive game, Arcadia was involved in a conference match-up which was decided in the last seconds of the game. This time the Knights were on the losing end. Ahead 71-70 with 10 seconds left on the clock, AU missed two free throws and allowed Cabrini the opportunity to win the game on a field goal made with 3 seconds remaining. Andrew Martin '07 had 17 points in the losing effort. 

Arcaida is 5-6 overall, 4-1 PAC. They will travel to Alvernia on Saturday for a 3:00 game. 

Green Leads Knights past Cougars

(01/09/06) -- Sterling Green '08 hit a field goal with no time remaining on the clock as Men's Basketball improve to 4-0 in the PAC with a 69-68 road victory over conference opponent College Misericordia. Arcadia has won three straight  and are winners of 5 of their last 6 games. Green finished with 15 points in the game.

Eric Elliott '08 led all scorers with 23 points. He has finished in double figures in the past seven games.

The Knights are 5-5 overall, 4-0 PAC. They travel to Cabrini on Wednesday, January 11th for a 8:00 game.

(01/07/06) -- Eric Elliott '08 led all scorers with 26 points as the Knights defeated  conference opponent Neumann College 67-55. Men's Basketball improve to 4-5 Overall, 3-0 PAC.

Arcadia will be back in action on Monday, January 9th at Misericordia, 7:00 start.  

 

Men's Basketball Win Home Opener

(12/20/05) -- Andrew Martin '07 scored 16 points and grabbed 9 rebounds with 5 blocked shots as the Knights defeated non-conference Chestnut Hill College 64-58.

Eric Elliott '08, Sterling Green '08, and Kevin Brown '08  also finished with double-figures in the victory.

After trailing at half-time 34-28 and by as many as 11 points with 11 minutes remaining in the second half, the Knights finished the game outscoring Chestnut Hill 32 to 15. Solid defense and timely scoring down the stretch helped earn the home win.

Arcadia will host Neumann College on Saturday, January 7th, 2006 at 2:00. 

 

Knights Drop Non-Conference Game at Delaware Valley

(12/10/05) -- Eric Elliott '08 scored 25 points in the 86-78 non-conference loss to Delaware Valley. The Knights trailed by as many as 20 points in the second half but mounted a tremendous comeback late in the game and cut the lead to 3 points with under a minute remaining. Clutch free-throwing shooting by Delaware Valley ended any Arcadia hopes of mounting their second consecutive thrilling comeback.

Sterling Green '08 added 19 points and a game-high 7 rebounds.

Arcadia will host Chestnut Hill on Tuesday, December 20th at 8:00. 

Men's Basketball Comeback To Defeat Eastern

(12/06/05) -- Bobby Mulholland '09 and the Knights scored 64 points in the second half to charge back from a 15 point half-time deficit. Mulholland had 27 points, shooting 7 for 8 from three-point land. Eric Elliott '08 added 17 points in the game, making clutch free-throws down the stretch.

Sterling Green '08 hit a clutch three pointer with 2 and a half minutes remaining in the game to put the Knights ahead to stay.  

Arcadia is 2-4, overall, 2-0 PAC. They will travel to Delaware Valley College on Saturday, December 10th for a 2:00 game.

(12/03/05) -- Kevin Brown '08 had 15 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists as Men's Basketball improve to 1-0 in the PAC with the 66-57 victory over Immaculata.

Eric Elliott '08 added 12 points in the game.

Arcadia will travel to Eastern on Tuesday for a 7:00 game.

(11/27/05) -- Eric Elliott '08 led the way for the Knights with 16 points and 6 rebounds in the 66-52 defeat at Lycoming.  Andrew Martin '07 added 10 points and grabbed 3 rebounds.

Arcadia will travel to conference opponent Immaculata on Saturday for a 3:00 game.

Knights Start Slow, Lose Third Straight

(11/22/05) -- Men's Basketball was out-scored by 21 points in the first half and could not recover from the early deficit in the 83-60 defeat at Muhlenberg. Kevin Brown '08 led the Knights with 12 points and 4 steals. Stuart Slattery '06 added 7 points.

Arcadia will travel to Lycoming on Sunday for a 3:00 game.

 

Men's Basketball Drop Both at Lebanon Valley Tournament

(11/20/05) -- Arcadia was defeated by host Lebanon Valley 55-49 in the first game of the tournament and season for the Knights. Kevin Brown '08 led the way with 15 points. Andrew Martin '07 had 10 points and 4 rebounds with 1 steal and 1 blocked shot.

In the second game, Averett defated Arcadia 78-54. Eric Elliott '08 scored 18 points in the defeat. Martin had 6 points and 2 rebounds with 3 blocked shots. Martin earned a spot on the all-tournament team for his efforts.

Arcadia will travel to Muhlenberg on Tuesday for a 8:00 game.
