Pempkowski leads three Knights on All Commonwealth Team
The 2010 All Commonwealth Conference Baseball team was announced today by the Middle Atlantic Conference office. The team, voted on by the leagues head coaches features three Arcadia Baseball student-athletes, led by senior outfielder Matt Pempkowski who was named to the First Team. Neafsey receives MAC Scholar Athlete Award
Arcadia University Men's Swim Team captain Stephen Neafsey has been selected as the 2010 Middle Atlantic Conferences (MAC) Men's Swimming Scholar Athlete of the Year. Neafsey is just the second Arcadia student-athlete to receive this honor and first for the swim program. Former men's tennis standout Tim Fitzgerald '09 received this honor in 2009. Neafsey, accompanied by assistant swim coach Owen O'Connell, received his award from MAC Executive Director Ken Andrews on Monday at the conference's annual awards luncheon held at Lebanon Valley College. Baseball bids farewell to six seniors
Arcadia University Baseball recently concluded their 2010 season over the weekend, ending on a high note with a 7-5 league win over Elizabethtown (11-7 C'wealth) but will say goodbye to six student-athletes who will graduate later this month. #2 Matt Pempkoski, #9 Dan Morris, #12 Zach Spece, #13 Jared Knable, #16 Joe Rafanelli and #24 Dan Manning all closed out their collegiate playing career under second year head coach Brian Pugh. Langner leads Knights at MAC's
Playing at #4 Singles, Kevin Langner '10 advanced to the semifinal round of this weekend's Middle Atlantic Conference Championships, where he was defeated by Lebanon Valley's Jon Gingrich 6-3, 6-1, leading the group of six Arcadia team members at the league's individual championships at Kirby Park. Langner was the lone Knight to advance out of quarterfinal round action and got there by defeating first round opponent Messiah's Kyle Keen 6-1, 6-1 followed by a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Elizabethtown's Bryan Metz. Knights close out 2010 at MAC Championships
Arcadia University Men's Golf closed out the 2010 season at the East Course at Hershey Country Club, host to this year's Middle Atlantic Conference Championships. The Knights, competing for the Commonwealth crown, finished the weekend in 8th place on the Par 71, 6600 yard championship course. Leading the way for Arcadia was Kevin Gallagher '11 who shot a two-day combined team low of +44 (186), finishing tied for 34th overall. Read more...
Knights earn split on Senior Day
With 6 seniors playing their final games in an Arcadia uniform, the Knights took one of two this afternoon at Erny Field. Both games had great moments, however, in game two with the score tied heading into the bottom of the eighth inning the Knights bats livened and plated two, to take a 7-5 lead. Dan Morris playing in his final collegiate game was 4-6 on the afternoon, with 2 RBI and a run scored. Read more...

Arcadia splits twinbill with E'town to close season
Arcadia University Softball closed out the 2010 season with a 7-1 win over host Elizabethtown College, after the Knights dropped the opening game 10-2 in the 6th inning in today's Commonwealth Conference Softball season closer. The Knights end their season with a 14-25 overall record while going 5-9 in the Commonwealth. Read more...
Shorthanded Knights suffer tough loss at E-Town
Arcadia University playing without several of it's regular senior-athletes due to thesis' at the University played the number three team in the Commonwealth Conferene tough, however, fell 11-6 to the Blue Jays of Elizabethtown College. Leading 5-0 after 6 1/2 innings of play, and 6-2 heading into the bottom of the 8th inning the Knights looked poised for the upset. However, the Blue Jays would score 9 runs in the bottom of the 8th to lead them to victory. The two teams will play a double-header at Erny Field Saturday starting at noon.
Fords sweep Knights in non-league play
Arcadia University Softball closed out their home schedule this afternoon, dropping a pair of non-league games to cross city opponent Haverford College, 10-2 (6 inn.) in game one and 6-1 in the nightcap. Arcadia University Women's Lacrosse earned their second straight win and 4th in their last six games, handing non-conference opponent Rosemont College a 21-2 defeat Wednesday afternoon to improve to 6-10 on the season. Baseball falls to Wesley 14-2 in Wilmington
Arcadia playing a home game at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington, DE kept the game interesting through 5 innings of play, tied at 2 runs a piece, however Wesley broke the game open in the sixth inning. Scoring two unearned runs with 2 outs, the Wolverines took a 4-2 lead, from there Wesley scored 10 runs over the final 3 innings of play to take the game 14-2. Knights return to actioni this Friday when they travel to open up their last conference series of the season at Elizabethtown.
Knights win home finale 15-9 over Bryn Mawr
Arcadia University Women's Lacrosse earned a 15-9 non-conference victory over Bryn Mawr College Tuesday afternoon, wrapping up their home schedule for the 2010 season. Knights Set To Take on Wesley At Frawley Stadium, ETown Series This Weekend
Entering their last week of the season, Arcadia University will open up the week with a home game against the Wolverines of Wesley College (DE) on Wednesday night at Frawley Stadium, home of the Class A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals in Wilmington, Delaware. Baseball drop two at Messiah
Completing the three-game series at Messiah College Saturday afternoon, Arcadia University fell to the Falcons 6-2 in game one and 10-3 in the finale. The Knights five runs in the two games came off only nine hits as the Messiah pitching staff was solid the entire afternoon. Arcadia falls to 8-27 on the season and 1-12 in the Commonwealth, while Messiah improves to 18-15 and 7-8 in the league. Read more...
Johnson homerun gives Knights split with defending league champs
Given only three opportunities all afternoon, Arcadia University needed just one of their three total hits to earn a split in today's Commonwealth Conference softball doubleheader with Messiah College, the defending league and Division III national champions. It came after Messiah's ace pitcher Jessica Rhoades tossed a 9-0 no-hitter to the Knights in game one. On the second hit Rhoades allowed of just 3 on the day, Amy Johnson '12 drilled a third inning lead off home run over the center field field to give Arcadia a 1-0 lead in game two. That one run stood through a solid seven inning outing from Kelsey Roberts '12, who tossed the 1-0 shutout win, allowing Messiah just 5 hits, with one walk and two strike outs for her 6th win of the season. Men's Tennis defeats Bryn Anthen in home finale; Women also win
Competing in their final home match of the season Arcadia won convincingly on thier home courts. The Knights dropped only one match on the day defeating Bryn Athens 4-1. The women competing in their first matches sisnce the fall season also pulled out the victory, defeating the same opponent 2-1.
Pride use late first half rally to defeat Knights 19-13
Following four lead changes in the first half, Widener University closed with 6 unanswered goals for a 10-5 lead at the half en route to a 19-13 victory over Arcadia University in Middle Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse play Saturday. A day after the Knights pounded out 16 hits on the road, Arcadia worked to get 12 hits however was unable to string together enough to get past Messiah College in Commonwealth action. Knights cruise to 18-10 victory over King's
Arcadia Women's Lacrosse picked up another Middle Atlantic Conference victory Thursday evening, handing host King's College an 18-10 setback at McCarthy Stadium. Thursday's win is the third league win of the season for the Knights, as they stand one victory shy of doubling their conference wins from a season ago. The Knights owned an 8-4 lead at the half before going on to outscore King's 10-6 in the second half to secure the win. Kreena Patel '11 led all scorers with 5 goals on 8 shots as she stretches her scoring streak to 9 games. AU Men’s Soccer First-Years and Coach Nydick take advantage of Preview Program during week-long trip to London
Six first year players and Head Coach Rob Nydick recently traveled overseas to take part in Arcadia's unique “Preview” program. The program is offered to all eligible first years as a way to preview what a semester abroad is like. Coach Nydick joined the trip this year along with Women’s Basketball Coach Crystal Gibson to serve as Group Leaders. Read more...
First-Year Equestrian Qualifies for Nationals
First-year student Jennifer Taylor '13, who rides for the Arcadia University Equestrian Team under the direction of Arcadia Coach Amber Jewel of Redwing Farm, qualified for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Western Nationals in Lexington, Ky., May 5-8. She will compete in Novice Horsemanship Level 13 on May 8. Taylor, of Millville, N.J., had placed in the top 2 during the regional competition for Zone 3 Region 2 of the in the IHSA, which earned her a place in the Zone 3 finals on March 27-28, in Cazenovia, N.Y
Sportsmanship Teams Announced
The Middle Atlantic Conference office has announced the sportsmanship team selections for Winter 2009-10. The following Knights have been selected to their respective teams: Glen Gagnon '10 (Men's Basketball), Kim Milligan '10 (Women's Basketball), Stephen Neafsey '10 (Men's Swimming) and Stephanie Bartolotta '11 (Women's Swimming). Congratulations to all!
Equestrian Team places nine in Western Regionals
Nine members of the Arcadia University Equestrian team have qualified for the 2010 Zone 3, Region 2 Western Regionals to be held March 20 at Wye River Stables, Queenstown, MD. Kim Edelman '12, Chelsea Crozier '11, Carrie Fillebrown '11, Heather Strain '11, Becki Del Pizzo '11, Sarah Bellomo '11, Wayde Taylor '12, Jen Taylor '12, and Colleen Crowley '13. The Knights are currently ranked 5th of 6 teams in the Zone 3, Region 2 Western standings. Regions will send their Regional Champion Western Team, plus the top two individuals in each division (including Alumni Rail and Alumni Reining) to the Western Semi-finals oto be held on Saturday, March 27 and Sunday, March 28 hosted by Cazenovia College at the Cazenovia College Equestrian Center, Cazenovia, NY.
