Campaign Kickoff Celebrates
the Arcadia Experience

Campaign Kickoff Gala at the Elkins Estate
Arcadia is hosting a weeklong celebration to launch At Home & In the World— The Campaign for Arcadia University, and to honor the people who make it possible for faculty and students to contribute to the world in notable ways.
“The kickoff of the Campaign marks the coming together of the University,” says President Jerry Greiner. “As a community, we will achieve the goals set forth in the Campaign and continue to enhance the Arcadia experience for students, faculty, staff and friends of the University.”
University leaders, President’s Circle members, and Covenant Society members will gather on the evening of Saturday, Nov. 14, for the Campaign Kickoff Gala at the historic Elkins Estate on Ashborne Road in Elkins Park.
Designed by renowned architect Horace Trumbauer in 1896, the Elkins Estate is a 42-acre oasis that was once the country sanctuary of Philadelphia entrepreneur William L. Elkins. In the 1930s, the Elkins family sold the home to the Dominican Sisters of Saint Catherine de Ricci, who maintained the estate as a women’s retreat for more than 75 years. Now, under the ownership of the Land Conservancy of Elkins Park, the estate serves as a peaceful wellness retreat and refuge, as well as a magnificent venue for special occasions.
The Elkins Estate is especially meaningful to Arcadia University. Having also completed Arcadia University’s own Grey Towers Castle in 1892, Trumbauer incorporated many of the same designs into the Elkins Estate. “Seeing the astonishing similarities between the two estates is truly magnificent, thus making the Elkins Estate the perfect venue to celebrate the kickoff of At Home & In the World—The Campaign for Arcadia University,” says Nick Costa, Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations.
“Special thanks to the Elkins Estate for sponsoring— in part—this impressive venue for this event.”
