Faculty members in the Department of Physical Therapy have established an endowed scholarship to help assist students in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program and to get involved in At Home & In the World—The Campaign for Arcadia University. Arcadia’s PT program already is distinguished as being rated among the best in the nation, due to the excellence of its faculty and program.

“Our faculty decided to make a combined gift in order to have a larger overall impact. They recognize that Arcadia has assisted them in many ways, including giving them opportunities for professional development and advancement and providing tuition remission for family members,” says Jan Tecklin, Professor of Physical Therapy, who helped to lead the scholarship initiative.

“These opportunities and our daily work have all fostered the desire to support the Campaign. We decided to focus our giving on our students and on helping them to achieve their goal of becoming physical therapists.”

Physical Therapy students at Arcadia already partake in innovative programming and international experiences aimed at helping others. With this new scholarship, Arcadia can offer them more financial assistance as they pursue their education and continue to help others.

“We hope that the student recipients of the scholarships will be able to use their scientific knowledge and clinical skills to improve the lives of the individuals with whom they work,” says Tecklin.

“From my personal perspective, as I have matured in life and have been fortunate enough to be able to make donations—in the form of dollars, time and energy—to Arcadia and other causes important to me, I have become aware of just how enjoyable and fulfilling it is to provide such support to others,” he says on why he gave to the fund.
