Serves Adult, Professional, Online Students
GLENSIDE, Pa., Monday, Feb. 8, 2010 ─ Arcadia’s newly formed School of Continuing Studies serves adult, professional and online students through the Center for Adult and Professional Education, Arcadia Online, and the Center for Summer Learning. Dr. Erik Nelson is the Founding Dean of the School of Continuing Studies.
“The School of Continuing Studies provides a unique set of pedagogical approaches and programming to reach and serve both traditional and non-traditional students everywhere and every time and in whatever their learning styles may be,” says Dr. Steve O. Michael, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. “Through the combination of online, off-campus and offshore programming, we are determined to take educational services to students far and near.”
The Center for Adult and Professional Education, formerly known as Educational Outreach, provides personal attention and relevant academic programs to working adults and professionals. The Center’s programs are designed in flexible formats and timeframes that help today’s busy adults realize their educational goals.
Arcadia Online offers leading-edge online learning programs that create a virtual learning environment that is as friendly and engaging as Arcadia’s on-campus programs and incorporates its hallmark global perspectives. Arcadia Online provides the expertise and support to help students succeed in online, blended, and accelerated degree offerings, courses and certificate programs.
The Center for Summer Learning manages Arcadia’s summer offerings, including new and creative academic experiences that allow students, close by or from afar, to participate in Arcadia’s quality programs. Summer courses and programs feature flexible formats and timeframes at an affordable tuition rate. Programs are delivered in different modalities (online, blended, institute), as well as flexible timeframes (seven-week online, weekend plus online, one-week).
The mission of the School of Continuing Studies is to provide creative, flexible, and innovative program delivery that meets the education needs of adult, non-traditional, and professional students in Pennsylvania and beyond. The School is committed to excellence in non-traditional educational experiences that are global, integrative, and personal. The School of Continuing Studies works collaboratively with the College of Business, Health, and Sciences (CBHS), the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, and the College of Global Studies to provide expanded educational opportunities for those seeking alternative and flexible delivery methods.
