Arcadia University Hosts Free Film Screening of Dirt! The Movie March 31
Glenside, PA—March 11, 2010—Arcadia University’s Community Cinema film series, a monthly film screening showcasing the Emmy Award-winning PBS series Independent Lens www.independentlens.org, will host a free film screening of Dirt! The Movie on Wednesday, March 31, at 7:15 p.m., in The Chat Performance area located in the Dining Complex. The event is free and open to the public.
In Dirt! The Movie Directors Bill Benenson and Gene Rosow pose the question—It’s under our feet. But what is it? And how did it get there? Inspired by William Bryant Logan’s acclaimed book Dirt: The Ecstatic Skin of the Earth, the movie takes a critical look at our complex relationship with dirt and the solutions to restore this vital natural resource. Get the ‘dirt’ on how industrial farming, mining and urban development has led us toward cataclysmic droughts, starvation, floods and climate change.
