Arcadia University Presents Arthur A. Levine, Publisher of American Editions of Harry Potter on May 7

Glenside, Pa—April 19, 2010—Arcadia University Visiting Writers Series presents Arthur A. Levine, children’s and young adult book publisher who brought the Harry Potter books to America. Levine will speak at Arcadia’s Grey Towers Castle Mirror Room on Friday, May 7, at 3 p.m.

Levine is the Publisher of Arthur A. Levine Books and a Vice President of Scholastic Inc. Levine will have a variety books for purchase. The event is free and open to the public. Arcadia University is located at 450 S. Easton Road, Glenside, Pa.

Levine rose from Editorial Assistant to Editor-in-Chief at G.P. Putnam’s Sons, where he edited Peggy Rathmann’s Caldecott awarding-winning books Goodnight Gorilla and Officer Buckle and Gloria, and Emily Arnold McCully’s Mirette on the Hire Wire.

As the Editor-in-Chief at Alfred A. Knopf Books for Young Readers, Levine published The Golden Compass, the first book in Philip Pullman’s acclaimed His Dark Materials trilogy, as well as novels by Jerry Spinelli and Russell Hoban. His imprint publishes a list of literary hardcover books for young readers, and his authors include Lisa Yee, Roddy Doyle, J.K. Rowling, Carolyn Coman, and Shaun Tan. He also is proud to be publishing many bright new authors such as Francisco X. Stork, Elizabeth C. Bunce, and Erin Bow.
