Arcadia Participates in State-Wide Vigil for LGBTQ Youth on Oct. 18
What: Pennsylvania Night to Live
Who: Arcadia University students, faculty and staff will participate in a state-wide call to-action awareness event, “Pennsylvania Night to Live,” in remembrance of those in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) community who have taken their lives. Students are asked to wear white T-shirts with statements of awareness and remembrance during the day. With the recent deaths of seven LGBTQ youths, awareness and acceptance must be spread, according to the youth organizer of Equality of Pennsylvania who stated, “We are on the front lines of this crisis. In our communities and with each other, we need to stand in solidarity to remember those lost and send messages of love and life to LGBTQ youth.”
“Pennsylvania Night to Live” was organized by the Student Networking Across Pennsylvania. SNAP is the coalition of LGBTQ collegiate organizations from all over the state and is entirely youth-run. Other schools involved with “Pennsylvania Night to Live” are the University of Pennsylvania, Penn State University, and Temple University.
