TEDx Speaker: Jeri Lynne Johnson
Jeri Lynne Johnson is a musical leader. She founded and now conducts the Black Pearl Chamber Orchestra, the only multi-ethnic professional orchestra in Philadelphia. A graduate of Wellesley College and the University of Chicago, Johnson shares her passion for music through composing, directing, and playing piano. She is a world traveler, having been from Colorado to Germany with her orchestra. She has been recognized by the NBC Today Show as a nationally renowned leading female conductor. In 2005, she became the first African-American woman to win an international conducting award; she won the Taki Concordia Conducting Fellowship. Named the 2011 Woman of Distinction by the Philadelphia Business Journal, Johnson generates and inspires cultural beauty by renewing classical music.
