For 20th Straight Year, Arcadia University Addresses Hunger with Empty Bowl Benefit Dinner, Nov. 18
GLENSIDE, Pa. (Oct. 30, 2013) — For the 20th straight year, Arcadia University is hosting the Empty Bowl Benefit Dinner, an event that addresses hunger and homelessness both locally and internationally. Since its inception, the event has generated more than $100,000.
This year’s event is on Monday, Nov. 18. Attendees select a handcrafted bowl made by Arcadia students and other local artists, and fill them with an assortment of soups, breads, and desserts donated by area individuals and restaurants such as All Ways Café, Anne’s Kitchen Table, and 211 York. The empty bowls serve as a reminder of the many people in the world who live with an empty bowl each day.
Seating is by ticket only, with continuous seating from 4:30 to 8 p.m. in Grey Towers Castle. Tickets are $12 for students and $15 for non-students.
There are multiple ways to purchase tickets: visit www.arcadia.edu/emptybowl; call Arcadia University’s Community Service Office at 215-572-4000; at Arcadia’s Glenside campus (450 S. Easton Road) in the Landman Library on Nov. 12 and 14 from 4 to 6 p.m., or in the Chat (Commons) on Nov. 13 and 15 from noon to 2 p.m. Tickets also will be available at the door. All proceeds benefit Interfaith Hospitality Network and Heifer International.
