Details on the events are:
The Art Research Collaboration (ARC) Exhibition Program is pleased to announce a one-night engagement of a new performance work, The Black Tongue Lexicon, by Setzer. The 45-minute performance is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. in the Commons Art Gallery (450 S. Easton Road, Glenside).
Setzer’s pre-recorded, process-oriented actions, filmed in a variety of landscapes, are projected behind him as he performs live electronic music and vocals. Through what the Huffington Post called a “phenomenal hybrid of his own,” the artist discusses the tenuous relationship between language and the physical world. The overall result is what Setzer refers to as a “nerdy audiovisual spectacle that recalls Laurie Anderson, Marina Abramović, and Joseph Beuys as much as it does 1980’s art rockers, Devo.”
Ryan will conduct a live painting demonstration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Grey Towers Castle (450 S. Easton Road, Glenside). The event will be streamed at http://bit.ly/1dhcMSx .
A Philadelphia-based artist and assistant professor of studio art at Arcadia, Ryan has been conducting live painting demonstrations since 2011. Through her blog, http://abbeyryan.com, Ryan’s paintings are in more than 800 private and public collections all over the world. For more information, contact Ryan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
