Major Depressive Disorder, or depression, affects approximately 14.8 million American adults, or about 6.7 percent of the U.S. population age 18 and older in a given year. (Source: National Institute of Mental Health)
It can be characterized by feelings of sadness more days than not, loss of interest in activities one used to enjoy, difficulty sleeping, changes in eating habits, and feelings of hopelessness. Some individuals feel suicidal. If you or someone you care about is contemplating suicide, click here for immediate help.
Arcadia University Counseling Services is available available to provide on-campus support to individuals experiencing symptoms of depression. Additional off-campus support and resources are often recommended.
