Justin W. Leighton was awarded the Genetic Counseling Distinguished Student Award at Arcadia University’s 2010 Honors Convocation.

The award is given to a graduating Genetic Counseling student who not only demonstrates academic knowledge but uses counseling theory to provide personalized and empathetic patient care. Leighton was the first recipient of this award.

“Justin is one of the most dedicated and conscientious students in the genetic counseling program,” said Assistant Professor Mark Wade. “He has excelled both academically, and in the clinical realm working with patients. Justin was the recipient of the Yale University Summer Cancer Genetics Fellowship in 2009, one of the most prestigious genetic counseling internships in the country.”
