Karen Squarrell-Shablin, Adjunct Professor of Health Administration, recently published Loving your Layoff through Xulon Press. The book is a guide to surviving a layoff while keeping your family, future, finances and faith intact. She uses her personal experiences to inform the how-to guide, having survived a layoff from her position as vice president of a health care firm in 2008.

For Shablin, maintaining a proper perspective is essential to surviving any layoff. As noted on her Amazon.com biography page, she “asks everyone to remember–work pays for your real life, it is not your real life.”

A member of the Arcadia community since 1995, Shablin received B.A. in History of Science from Johns Hopkins University and the M.H.S.A. in Health Planning and Administration from the University of Michigan.  She is a consultant, talented public speaker, Certified Specialist in Aging and a Partner at Strategies for Health Care Excellence.

Her book can be purchased on Amazon.com.
