“You should never stop learning,” says Lee Marcy Barth ’60. “If you don’t learn something new every day, you’ve missed a great opportunity.”

She abides by this mantra and is committed to helping current students to make the most of their Arcadia education. That is why she has named a room in the new University Commons as part of her 50th class Reunion gift. The room will give students, faculty and staff a place to gather to form the kind of intellectual and cultural bonds that last a lifetime.

Barth graduated from Arcadia with a degree in Medical Technology, which, at the time, was a relatively new field that had grown out of World War II. Arcadia’s program consisted of three years of courses—22 credits per semester—and a one-year clinical. Barth enjoyed the program and says Arcadia prepared her well. Now, she’s giving back to thank her alma mater for all that her education has done for her.

“I knew I wanted to give back, and this was the best time and best way to do it,” Barth says. “The Commons will give faculty and students a place to mingle.”

An avid traveler, Barth is also big on global experiences and admires Arcadia’s success in providing international opportunities to all students. “Our society has become a global society,” she says. “We need to be very much aware of the world. The more you know, the better prepared you are to succeed.”
