Dru Simmons, Assistant Director of the Midwest Region for The College of Global Studies, was awarded the George Hertrich Advocacy Award at the recent Region VI NAFSA: Association of International Educators Conference in Indianapolis, Ind.

According to the Region VI website, recipients must “demonstrate a willingness to assist colleagues in the field, and advocate the cause of international education within his or her own institution as well as with the greater community.”

The award, a bonsai tree, honors the memory of international education leader George E. Hertrich and his contributions to the field in an enduring way. It is one of three awards given annually at the conference, with nominations submitted by groups of peers in the region.
