“[We’re] in a time of a tremendous opportunity and tremendous challenge for our country, for our world and for each of you,” said Isaac Stein to graduates during his Honorary Degree acceptance speech. “We are not in trouble, we are just—as the cartoon character Pogo used to say—confronted by insurmountable opportunities. We just have to surmount the challenges and capture the opportunities and that is where each of you has a role.”

Stein, a business leader and the husband of Arcadia alumna Madeline “Maddy” Johnson Stein ’68, received an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Arcadia at the Graduate Commencement ceremony on May 19, 2011. Watch Stein’s speech on YouTube.
