Drs. Louis Friedler and Ned Wolff of the Mathematics Department co-authored “What’s New with Reform Calculus in the US?” which appeared in Vol. 15, No. 1 of the Studies in College Mathematics, a Chinese Journal, in January 2012.

The purpose of this paper is to update Chinese audiences on what has been happening with the reform calculus movement in the US in tlf-le last five years. It is a continuation of the 2005 paper, “Calculus in the US 1940-2004,” which appeared in Studies in College Mathematics. Since the time that paper was published, the main reform textbooks have become more traditiońal while the major traditional textbooks have included more reform-style problems. We offer reasons for this trend and discuss recent interesting experiments with the teaching calculus in the US.
