Arcadia University’s School of Continuing Studies partnered with the Danielson Group to offer an Institute on Charlotte Danielson’s Framework for Teaching at the King of Prussia Campus. The three-day institute, held June 25-27, proved to be a valuable experience for the Pennsylvania and New Jersey educators in attendance, immersing the participants in the Danielson Framework, its four domains (Planning Preparation, Classroom Environment, Instruction, and Professional Responsibilities), 22 components and levels of performance.

“Many school systems—Pennsylvania in particular—are adopting the Danielson Framework as a consistent and accountable method for teacher evaluation,” said Beth Specker, Director of Education Initiatives for Arcadia’s School of Continuing Studies. “Our goal is to not only provide programs that match area educators with knowledge enhancement opportunities,” Specker continued, “but to also offer them at our King of Prussia Campus which is centrally located to many school districts.”

The Framework for Teaching is a research-based set of components of instruction, aligned to the INTASC standards, and grounded in a constructivist view of learning and teaching. The School of Continuing Studies looks to offer additional institutes on this cutting edge system of Teacher Evaluation.
