Global Expo: 388 Tales To Tell

By Purnell T. Cropper | April 3, 2014

Each of the 388 first-year and transfer students and 40 faculty and staff members have returned from Arcadia’s 21st Preview, having immersed themselves in other cultures as part of unique academic courses. The University community is invited to learn more about their experiences at the Global Expo on Friday, April 4, 2014 from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Commons.

Students will present about their Preview experiences in 14 countries over four continents at the Global Expo, revealing their worldwide discoveries, reporting on their findings, and sharing their stories with the University community. In addition, the winners of the Preview Photo Contest will be announced.

“It is easy to underestimate the herculean task of organizing a successful Preview—the solicitation of Preview Themes; the identification of international sites; the recruitment of guides and organizers in these countries; the arrangement for hotels, transportation, and feeding; the thought and efforts that go into ensuring safety and educationally rich experience; and above all, accounting for every participant at the end,” said Dr. Steve O. Michael, provost and vice president of Academic Affairs, who encouraged the University community to attend the Global Expo as a way of acknowledging the importance of and Arcadia’s commitment to study abroad. “To accomplish all these without a major hitch and with high praises from students is nothing short of a remarkable achievement—a feat that should truly be a point of pride for the community.”
