Photographer-Cartoonist-Writer Flash Rosenberg to Lecture about Drawing at Speed of Thought
Flash Rosenberg, award-winning photographer-cartoonist-writer-performer, will show how she translates complex concepts into instant drawings in a talk at Arcadia University on Wednesday, March 25. “Drawing At the Speed of Thought: Mingling drawing, photography, writing, humor, irreverence, passion, and performing to make portraits of ideas” is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. in the Commons Great Room (450 S. Easton Road, Glenside).
Rosenberg is a Guggenheim Fellow who has provided instant drawings for major clients such as Visa, Gatorade, Verizon, the Ford Foundation, the United Nations, and Mexico. She also has created feisty animations for PNC Bank, Advanced Solutions International, CNBC, Random House, Houghton Mifflin, and Amazon Publishing, among others. Rosenberg’s “FlashThink” cartoons were a weekly feature on Archetypes.com, her animations have appeared on Broadway in The Rascals’ “Once Upon a Dream,” and her stories have aired on NPR’s the Moth Radio Hour. An “Attention Span for Hire,” Rosenberg is a regular performer in “Monologues and Madness,” a member of the poetry collective “brevitas,” and she has served as the official DoodleClown for the New York Clown Theater Festival.
Rosenberg teaches Live-Drawing at The Art Students League of New York, hosts Flash Perception Lab, and has conducted photo perception classes on the NYC subways for Cooper Union. Her “Flash Moments” aired daily for five years on WXPN, and she was voted Funniest Person by readers of The Philadelphia City Paper. She runs Flash Rosenberg Studio, a photography, motion picture, merriment, and mischief factory based in New York City.
