On Jan. 18, Arcadia hosted two events in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. In the afternoon, the Community and Civic Engagement Center (CCEC) hosted its annual Day of Service shredding, eWaste, and repurposing event. In the evening, the Office of Institutional Diversity hosted the sixth annual “Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Annual Memorial Program.”

CCEC collected more than seven trucks of gently used items to help nearly a dozen area nonprofit organizations, including The Baby Bureau, Cradles to Crayons, Habitat for Humanity, Philabundance, Pennsylvania SPCA, and Philadelphia Reads. Additionally, volunteers sustainably recycled 10 tons of electronics and securely shredded 22 tons of documents.

The Office of Institutional Diversity welcomed members of the public, Cheltenham school board and township officials, county and state legislative body members, and Arcadia professor and Montgomery County District Judge Christopher Cerski to discuss topics of youth, community, and juvenile justice. This event was in collaboration with the Cheltenham Branch NAACP, the Montgomery County Racial Justice Improvement Project, and the Jewish Social Policy Action Network (JSPAN).
