At the 2016 Barrymore Awards for Excellence in Theatre on Oct. 24, Adjunct Professor Kevin Glaccum accepted the June and Steve Wolfson Award for an Evolving Theatre Company on behalf of Azuka Theatre, where he serves as artistic director.

The award seeks to increase public awareness of Philadelphia’s vibrant performing arts community by supporting theater companies that showcase creativity and growth.

Azuka Theatre, which has staged 13 world premieres since its founding in 1999, received the $10,000 grant for its mission to “strengthen the connection and shared humanity among diverse audiences by giving voice to the people whose stories go unheard.”
