Students Lead Sustainability Event for MLK Day of Service

Arcadia University students, in conjunction with the University’s Community and Civic Engagement Center, will host the annual MLK Day of Service Repurposing, eWaste, and Shredding event on Monday, Jan. 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The public is invited to donate gently used items to fulfill the wish lists of local nonprofit organizations, including Habitat Restore, Impact!, New Life, and Salvation Army thrift stores, The Baby Bureau, Cradles to Crayons, SPCA, and Philadelphia Reads. Items such as clothing, working electronics, housewares, school supplies, new or gently used shoes, prom dresses, and pet supplies are all welcomed donations. A full wish list of what will be accepted is available online.

The popular Repurposing, eWaste, and Shredding event is a great opportunity for community members looking to properly and securely dispose of eWaste electronic or metal items (with the exception of televisions and CRT monitors). 611 Recycling will be collecting onsite. Additionally, ShredOne will provide a maximum security shredding service for documents that contain sensitive information.

CCEC is offering a drive-up service for the Repurposing, eWaste, and Shredding event, with volunteers available to unload cars. Community members are asked to use the Church Road entrance and follow signs to the drop off area.
