Arcadia Appoints Five to Board of Trustees

Arcadia University has elected five new members to its Board of Trustees: Ilene Silver Berman ’74, Lois Haber ’71 ’16H, Margaret Keenan ’14, Robert E. Putney III, Esq., and Kenneth C. Weirman.

Berman

Berman is a realtor with Long & Foster Real Estate. Previously, she worked for Harvey Sklaroff Real Estate and Prudential Fox & Roach Realtors. Supporting several nonprofit organizations, Berman serves as a fundraiser for Caron Treatment Centers, a Founders’ Society committee member for The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and president of the Lynn Saligman League. Throughout her nonprofit experience, Berman has helped raise millions of dollars for these organizations.

Berman earned a Bachelor of Arts from Arcadia in 1974.

Haber

Haber was the first Arcadia alumna to serve as Chair of the Board of Trustees in University history. Co-founder of Delaware Valley Financial Services Inc., Haber was honored as Woman Business Owner of the Year and as a Woman Making History by the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO). She also was selected as one of Pennsylvania’s Top 50 Women in Business.

Haber’s extensive leadership includes serving on the board of directors for AUI Fine Foods, as a board member and chair of the Center for Women’s Business Research in Washington, D.C., as secretary of the Philadelphia chapter of NAWBO, and as a member of the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Pennsylvania Advisory Council. Currently, she serves as Chair of the School of Global Business Advisory Council at Arcadia.

Haber earned a Bachelor of Arts from Arcadia, along with CLU and ChFC designations from The American College. She received an Honorary Degree from Arcadia in 2016.

Keenan

Keenan, who was elected as Recent Graduate Trustee, serves as director of development and membership at the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia, where she annually raises over $1 million for the Philadelphia Council. Since graduating from Arcadia in 2014 with a degree in International Studies, Keenan has been involved with the University’s Historical and Political Studies Department as part of the annual Alumni Panel Discussion, speaking with students about navigating their careers after graduation.

Putney III

Putney III has been providing legal counsel since 1985. He is managing director of general counsel and chief compliance officer for Emerson Alchemy, LLC, and previously served in various legal positions at Morrison & Foerster LLP, BlackRock, Inc., Old Mutual Capital, Inc., Liberty Ridge Capital, Inc., Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, and Drinker Biddle & Reath.

Putney III is a life member of The Union League of Philadelphia and served as a trustee of Frankford Hospital Foundation for 15 years. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and a Juris Doctor from Northwestern University School of Law.

Weirman

Weirman serves as vice president and chief information officer of AMETEK. He has held senior leadership positions with companies throughout the tri-state area for more than 25 years, including Keystone Foods Corporation, Astra Merck Incorporated, and CDI Corporation. Weirman is a member of the Upper Gwynedd Township Planning Commission, Pi Kappa Phi – Alpha Mu (Penn State) Chapter Alumni Board of Directors, North Wales Library Advisory Board, and the Philadelphia Alliance for Capital & Technologies Board of Directors.

He earned a Bachelor of Science and an MBA from Penn State University.
