The Math and Actuarial Science Club and the Computer Science Club hosted their first Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Professional Panel on Nov. 18.

The eight professionals represented different areas of expertise in the STEM fields, including engineering, computer science, actuarial science, data analytics, and STEM teaching. They discussed their education and careers and advised students on the importance of networking.

Students posed questions about creating startup companies and getting a full-time position. After the panel, students spoke with panelists individually.

“The STEM Professional Panel gave us the opportunity to hear about the speakers’ individual experiences and pathways to their careers,” said Carlie Banchi ’20. “It taught us that there is not one clearly defined way to obtain your dream job. Instead, it is about trial and error, hard work and perseverance, and most importantly, discovering your passion.”
