Arcadia’s Dean of Students Dr. Andrew Goretsky contributed a chapter to the new book Online & Engaged: Innovative Student Affairs Practices for Online Learner Success published by National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA). Dr. Goretsky authored Chapter 7 of the book, entitled “Student Engagement Opportunities for Online Learners.”

The book “shares best practices, case studies, examples, and strategies for providing authentic student development support for online learners through their college experience.”

Dr. Goretsky was also one of several presenters during an online webinar on March 25 about online and remote learning following the COVID-19 pandemic, which was hosted by NASPA.

In the webinar, Goretsky offered advice as to how universities can continue to engage students even while they’re away. He recommended that one way to continue engagement was to encourage student groups and clubs to continue to meet virtually: “As we all know, springtime tends to be a very significant time for events and programs on campus, and many have been getting canceled or postponed. You don’t want to lose the knowledge of your current students as you transition to the younger students who may be taking over those leadership roles.”
